The distance between Lhasa and Kathmandu is about 1000 kilometers, which will offer a journey for tourists to enjoy an epic tour from Tibet to Nepal. So, the overland trip starts from Lhasa, and will take tourists to discover the prominent Buddhist sites and some amazing scenery along the road. They will pay a visit to Yamdrok Lake, Korola Glacier, Pelkor Monastery, Tashilunpo Monastery, EBC and arrive at Gyirong Pass. Then tourists need to travel another 200-kilometer distance to get to Kathmandu. It takes at least 7 days to finish the overland tour from Lhasa to Kathmandu, which will make sure that tourists can have enough time to feel and enjoy.

The route will pass Lhasa, Nagarze, Gyantse, Shigatse, Lhatse, Tingri, Gangga, Gyirong, Resuo, Dhunche, Kakani and finally arrive at Kathmandu.

Flight Route Map Between Tibet and Nepal

Currently, due to the epidemic of COVID-19, there is no flight between Lhasa and Kathmandu to avoid the spread of the disease. However, we all know that a direct flight is the most convenient way to travel between Tibet and Nepal because it will only take 1.5 hours to finish the whole journey. And tourists can get the chance to view the amazing scenery from the top on a good day. Just for you to know that we will update the flight information once it is reopened for tourists to travel between Tibet and Nepal by air.

Train Route Map Between Tibet and Nepal

The railway from Shigatse to Gyirong Pass is under construction at present. It is expected to offer service in 2022. Currently, it is possible for tourists to take a train from Lhasa to Shigatse firstly. There are three trains departing from Lhasa to Shigatse daily, which will only take less than 3 hours. Then they can take a chartered bus to get to Gyirong and then transfer to Kathmandu after passing the border checkpoint. Everyone should be well prepared for the poor condition along the road and also high altitude sickness. The long distance train and car travel from Lhasa to Kathmandu may make it easy for tourists to get high altitude sickness.
