Truly Immersive Experience to Walk around the Barkhor in Tibet: Travel in the Lhasa City

I really enjoy the 3-day Lhasa tour although the time was very short. I still remember when our guide took us on a leisurely walk around the Barkhor, he shared fascinating insights into local customs and traditions, allowing us to experience life in Lhasa like the locals. We had the opportunity to interact with shop owners, sample local snacks, and even try our hand at spinning prayer wheels. It was a truly immersive experience that left a lasting impression. If you came Lhasa without visiting Potala Palace, it can’t be called a complete itinerary. Stepping into its majestic halls filled with centuries of history was awe-inspiring. Our guide's detailed explanations brought the palace to life, and we left with a deeper understanding of Tibetan Buddhism and culture. This tour offered a perfect introduction to Lhasa's rich cultural heritage. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the heart of Tibet, especially for those whose time is limited.

Vibrant Culture and Rich History of Lhasa

With limited time, the short itinerary provided a glimpse into the vibrant culture and rich history of Lhasa. The tour was well-paced, allowing us to explore the city's iconic landmarks at a leisurely pace. The historic Potala Palace was a sight to behold, with its imposing structure and intricate artwork. Stepping inside felt like stepping back in time, and our guide's insights added depth to the experience. The Jokhang Temple was equally impressive, for the temple's architecture was breathtaking, and the atmosphere inside was peaceful and serene. It was suggested to stroll around the Barkhor, soaking in the bustling atmosphere and colorful sights. We had the chance to mingle with locals, browse through traditional shops, and witness daily rituals. In all, the tour offered a wonderful introduction to Lhasa's cultural heritage. And I am extremely grateful for the efforts paid by Tibet Horizon.

Exceptional Guide of Tibet Horizon: Lhasa City Journey

This was our first trip to Lhasa, and the 4-day tour was perfectly organized by Tibet Horizon. Right from our initial inquiry, their customer service was prompt and helpful, answering all our questions and customizing the itinerary to suit our interests. Our guide, Mr. Tashi Wangyal, was exceptional. He met us at the airport with a warm welcome and throughout the tour, his deep knowledge and passion for Tibetan culture were evident. The visit to the Potala Palace was awe-inspiring, and Mr. Tashi Wangyal’s storytelling made the history come alive. At Jokhang Temple, we felt a profound sense of peace and reverence, and Mr. Tashi Wangyal’s explanations about the Buddha statue enriched our experience.

One of the most memorable parts was our leisurely walk around the Barkhor Street. Mr. Tashi Wangyal took us to some local shops where we could observe the daily lives of the people, and even helped us bargain for souvenirs. We also had the unique opportunity to learn about Tibetan medicines. Visiting a local clinic, we were fascinated by the traditional practices and got to try some herbal remedies. In short, the company’s service was impeccable. From the comfortable accommodations to the well-planned daily activities, everything was handled with great professionalism. They even arranged for a special dinner at a local restaurant where we enjoyed authentic Tibetan cuisine. this tour exceeded our expectations. If you’re looking for a hassle-free, enriching experience in Lhasa, Tibet Horizon is the way to go.

      Festivals of Tibet in August

I'm planning to travel to Tibet in August. I read on a website that there's a horse racing festival in Nagqu during August. I'm wondering if there are any other festivals in August besides this one. Could you provide me with some information about it? Also, can foreigners participate in these festivals?

The train from Beijing to Lhasa

Hello, my husband and I are looking into the option of taking the train from Beijing to Lhasa this October. The issue I'm having is that my husband is not so keen on bunks in the cabin to make it private? Our other option is flying in, but my preference would really be to see some of the scenery!

Mr. Tenzin Jamphel from Tibet Horizon, answered on June 17th, 2020

Dear Marianne, Thank you for consulting us for your travel plans to Lhasa this October.

For a more personalized experience, you can opt for a Soft Sleeper Cabin, which allows you to reserve all four berths. While flying is a quicker option, train travel allows for a more relaxed journey, affording you the chance to stretch your legs, move around, and fully appreciate the changing scenery outside your window.

To book your tickets, it's advisable to do so well in advance, particularly for travel during peak seasons like October, when demand is high. If you'd like to proceed with booking train tickets or require further assistance with your travel arrangements, please feel free to contact us. Our team is dedicated to ensuring you have a memorable and enjoyable journey to Lhasa.
