Memorable Festival in Tibet: Lhasa City

Our 4-day Lhasa tour was absolutely delightful! What impressed me most was spending time with a local family to celebrate the Tibetan New Year. We learned to make traditional Tibetan food and milk tea, which was an immersive and heartwarming experience. Our guide was fantastic, providing deep insights into the culture and traditions.

The accommodations were comfortable and conveniently located. The visit to the Potala Palace was awe-inspiring, and watching the scripture-debating at Sera was fascinating. I must say it is the Tibet Horizon’s meticulous planning and personal touch that made this trip truly unforgettable. At the end, all I want to say is thank you, Tibet Horizon, for an amazing journey!

An Immersive Experience in Lhasa: New Year Festival

After spending one day to acclimatize to high attitude in Lhasa, we visited the historic Potala Palace and witnessed the scripture-debating at Sera at the second day, in which the grandeur of Potala Palace and the spirited debates at Sera left us deeply impressed.

On the third day, we visited a local family to celebrate the Tibetan New Year. We spent the day learning to make traditional Tibetan food and milk tea, and engaging in festive activities. The family was incredibly warm and welcoming, sharing their customs and making us feel like part of their celebrations. This immersive experience provided deep insights into Tibetan culture, far beyond what casual sightseeing could offer. Our guide was exceptional, always attentive and helpful. At one point, I had difficulty adjusting to the high altitude, and the guide promptly provided me with oxygen and stayed with me until I felt better. His dedication and care were truly commendable. The accommodations arranged were cozy and well-situated, and the meals were delicious, offering a great mix of local cuisine.

we were very satisfied with the entire experience. Although the tour was short, it was filled with precious memories. We hope to return and explore more of Tibet’s cultural and natural beauty in the future.

In the New Year Festivel, we can see many Tibetans are photographing to memorize their life.

At Barkhor Square before the Potala Palace, it will play fireworks in the night of New Year Festival.

Local family is cooking to celebrate New Year Festivel.
