  • Miss. Lora from UK, asked on May 17th, 2024

    The sanitary conditions

What are the sanitary conditions on the Chongqing to Lhasa train?

Mr. Karma from Tibet Horizon, answered on May 17th, 2024

Dear Miss. Lora, thanks for your question.

The Chongqing to Lhasa train generally meets the basic needs of long-distance travel in terms of sanitary conditions, but the facilities are relatively simple compared to city trains.

The soft sleeper cars are equipped with Western-style toilets and squat toilets, while the hard sleeper and hard seat cars are only equipped with squat toilets. There is a washbasin and water heater next to the toilet in each car, providing a 24-hour hot water supply. However, due to the large number of passengers, the toilets and washbasins may be frequently used during peak hours. Therefore, it is recommended that passengers bring their own wet wipes, hand sanitizer and sufficient toilet paper to ensure personal hygiene.

It should be noted that there are no shower facilities on the train, so it is recommended to clean before boarding and bring alternatives such as wet wipes to keep clean. Nevertheless, the staff will clean the carriages and toilets regularly to maintain basic sanitary conditions.

I look forward to your arrival and will serve you wholeheartedly to ensure that your journey on the plateau is pleasant and memorable.
