Delightful Escaping from Noisy - Tibet Train Tour from Shanghai to Lhasa & Namtso

Our journey was a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai into the serene beauty of Tibet. As we boarded the Qinghai-Tibet Train, leaving behind the vibrant energy of Shanghai, we were enveloped in a sense of tranquility that only Tibet can offer. The peaceful ambiance of the region, even in bustling Lhasa, provided a refreshing change of pace from the fast-paced city life. Exploring the architectural marvels of Lhasa, from the imposing Potala Palace to the spiritual sanctity of Jokhang Temple and the enlightening debates at Sera Monastery, was a truly enlightening experience. Each site offered a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Tibetan culture, leaving us in awe of its depth and complexity. Beyond Lhasa, our journey took us to the breathtaking shores of Namtso Lake, where the pristine waters mirrored the vast expanse of the sky, creating a scene of unparalleled beauty. The rugged terrain of Shigatse and the towering peaks of Everest Base Camp left us humbled by the raw power of nature. Our guide, Mr. Tseten Namgyal, proved to be an invaluable asset. From hand-picking accommodations to catering to our culinary preferences, he ensured that every aspect of our trip was tailored to perfection. His knowledge of the region and thoughtful attention to detail made our experience truly unforgettable. We really appreciate Mr. Tseten Namgyal and the whole team for their amazing service. Ethereal Landscape in Lhasa, Shigatse and Namtso on Tibet Train

Our 10-day adventure from Shanghai to Tibet was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we stepped off the train into the heart of Lhasa, we were greeted by a landscape that seemed straight out of a dream. The juxtaposition of ancient temples against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains was a sight to behold. Exploring the streets of Lhasa, with their vibrant colors and bustling markets, was a sensory overload in the best possible way. Each corner revealed a new facet of Tibetan culture, from the intricate artwork adorning the walls of the Potala Palace to the melodic chants echoing through the halls of the Jokhang Temple. As we ventured further into the region, visiting iconic sites like Namtso Lake and the base camp of Mount Everest, we were struck by the sheer majesty of nature. The crystal-clear waters of Namtso Lake shimmered under the sun, while the towering peaks of Everest left us breathless with their grandeur. Despite encountering minor altitude sickness along the way, our guide, Mr. Passang Norbu, was quick to respond with care and expertise. From providing oxygen to offering helpful tips for acclimatization, she ensured that our journey remained safe and comfortable throughout. Our trip in Tibet was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. From the awe-inspiring landscapes to the impeccable service, every aspect of our journey was beyond compare. We are grateful for the memories we made and would highly recommend this agency to anyone seeking an unforgettable adventure in Tibet.

  • Mrs. Loannou from Greece, asked on August 5th, 2024

What to Pack for Train Journey

My husband and I are traveling to China in October this year. We’re interested in experiencing the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. What to bring to ensure a comfortable journey given the high altitude? Should I bring an oxygen bottle myself?

Mr. Tashi Wangyal from Tibet Horizon, answered on August 5th, 2024

Dear Loannou, thank you for extending your question to us!

Experiencing the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is a remarkable journey. To ensure a comfortable trip, especially given the high altitude, here are some essentials to consider bringing:
Altitude sickness medication like Acetazolamide (Diamox) can help you prevent altitude sickness.
Bottled waters can help you stay hydrated, which can also reduce the risks of altitude sickness.
Light clothing layers can help you adapt to temperature changes in various stops.
Sleeping aid such as earplugs, eye masks, and travel pillows may help you have a better sleep.
You can also bring some snacks and things for entertainment to make your train journey more enjoyable.

For special items such as oxygen cylinders, they are considered pressure containers and oxygen is a combustible gas. According to railway regulations, they are not allowed on trains or airplanes. Therefore, when preparing your luggage, it's not necessary to bring an oxygen bottle. The train has oxygen supply systems and oxygen outlets.

If you have further questions or need help in booking ticket, feel free to contact us!
