Nanjia Bawa Peak looks like a Spear Piercing the Sky

 2. The Truth about "Shy Girl Peak"

Why doesn't Nanjia Bawa Peak easily reveal the truth? It turned out that Nanjia Bawa is adjacent to the Qingzang plateau in the north and the Indian plain in the south. The warm and humid air from the Indian Ocean controls here. Therefore, its north and south slopes have the characteristics of humid and semi-humid oceanic climate, rich in rain and snow. Throughout the year, especially in the rainy season, the summit of the mountain is surrounded by clouds and mist all day long. The Yarlung Zangbo Valley at the foot of the Nanjia Bawa is the main channel for water vapor to go north. Facing the rising sun in the morning, you can see that the white, solid sea of clouds churning over the valley, the distant mountains are black, and the nearby mountains are indigo. After the sun rises, the ground heats up quickly and the sea of clouds changes endlessly.

A stream of air flows from the bottom to the top, spreading gracefully. Some falls over the mountain and crosses the boundary sharply, forming a waterfall of clouds. Some resembles a streamer spinning around the mountain. The summit of Nanjia Bawa is white with snow, and clouds and mist sometimes evaporate under the mountain, emerging from its cone-shaped peak, like smoke from a volcanic eruption. Sometimes a whirlpool will be rolled up on the summit, changing endlessly. Sometimes it is constantly blown by the high-altitude westerly wind for a long time, making the white clouds on the top of the peak like a belt or a flag, forming the wonders of flag and clouds.

3. The Legend of NanjiaBawa

There are many versions of the legend about Nanjia Bawa. One of the most widely known legends is that long ago, the lord sent Nanjia Bawa and Jiala Bailei to guard the southeast area.

The younger brother Jiala Bailei is diligent and eager to learn martial arts, and the taller he gets, the older brother Nanjia Bawa is very jealous. So he killed his brother at a black and windy night, and threw his head in the territory of Milin County, turning it into Dela Mountain. In order to punish Nanjia Bawa for his sins, the lord punished him to stay by the Yarlung Zangbo River forever and always accompany his brother who was killed.

This mythological story vividly explains the characteristics of these two mountains: the top of the Jiala Bailei Peak we see now is always round in shape, because it is a headless mountain；Nanga Bawa probably knew that he was guilty, so it is covered by the clouds and mist all the year round to keep outsiders from seeing it.

4. Best Viewing Place of Nanjia Bawa Peak

Suosong Village is an excellent place to view Nanga Bawa Peak. Suosong Village is located in Milin County, Nyingchi City, on the north bank of the Yarlung Zangbo River. It's very quiet here. This small village, covered by wild peach blossoms in Spring, was quietly hidden in the folds of the mountains of the Qinghai-Tibet Platea, surrounded by Nanga Bawa, embraced and kissed by Yarlung Zangbo, protected by gods, and blessed by nature. In the pastoral scenery, the village is on a hillside, and the Yarlung Zangbo River is below. In the early spring, there is also a lush peach forest dotted with it.

Especially at the beginning of April, the peach blossoms flourish like brocade, the river water is green like jade, and the snow-capped mountains break free from the entanglement of clouds and mist. At this time, the Grand Canyon condenses all the beauty and exaggerates the wild personality of the world's largest Grand Canyon, which is mesmerizing!

The period from the end of March to the beginning of April is the peak tourist season to visit Suosong Village. Tourists come here to watch the peach blossoms in the snowy area. In the early spring, it is almost meaningless to mark tourist attractions here, because there is no place without beauty and painting. With the majestic Nanjia Bawa as the center, the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, the Niyang River Valley, and the valleys connected to these river valleys criss-cross like a chain of beads, woven into a picture of Tibetan spring scenery.
