Travel overland from Kathmandu to Lhasa via Friendship Highway
So, overland travel is the cheapest way to get to Lhasa from Nepal at present. The driver will escort you from Kathmandu to Lhasa via the Sino-Nepal Friendship Highway. Travelers from Singapore will take the vehicle to get to the border and cross at Gyirong Port. The road from Kathmandu to Gyirong Port will take about 5-6 hours and travelers better leave easily in the morning. After taking a rest at Gyirong Town, head to Mount Everest Base Camp to admire the breathtaking landscapes and visit the Rongbuk Monastery. Then, keep traveling and appreciating the views and culture along the road from Shigatse to Gyantse and then reach Lhasa in the end.
