Deeper Understanding in Tibet Train Tour - Guangzhou & Lhasa & Everest & Namtso

I recently completed a 12-day tour and I couldn't be more satisfied. This journey brought me many new and exciting experiences. Thanks to our knowledgeable guide, I gained a deeper understanding of Tibet's culture and history. We visited several iconic sites, including the historic Potala Palace, the traditional home of the Dalai Lama. Walking through its halls, I felt a deep connection to the rich history of this place. The Jokhang Temple was another highlight, where witnessing the devotion of the Tibetan people was truly moving. The most memorable part of the trip was our visit to Everest Base Camp. Seeing Mount Everest up close and experiencing the sunset and sunrise at the base camp was absolutely breathtaking. The majesty of the world's highest peak left me in awe. The company's service was excellent throughout the trip. Our guide was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly attentive and helpful. When I experienced mild altitude sickness, our guide quickly provided me with an oxygen bottle and useful advice, which helped me recover quickly. The logistics were well-organized, and every detail was taken care of, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. However, the only drawback was the long train journey from Guangzhou to Lhasa. While the views were stunning, the travel time felt increasingly exhausting as we neared Lhasa. Next time, I might choose a closer city to take the train from or opt for a direct flight to Lhasa. In all, it was a fantastic journey, and I am grateful for the effort and care provided by these staff. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore Tibet.

  • Miss Kowalczyk from Poland, asked on April 3rd, 2024

Food and Pre-odering Services on Tibet Train

I'm a foreign traveler interested in the Guangzhou to Tibet train tour, and I'm particularly concerned about the availability of vegetarian meals on the train. Can you provide information on whether the train offers vegetarian options in their dining car, and if it's possible to pre-order vegetarian meals during the booking process?

Mr. Tenzin Sherab from Tibet Horizon, answered on April 3rd, 2024

Dear Kowalczyk, thank you for extending your question to us!

While the dining car menu may vary, it usually includes a selection of Chinese and Tibetan-style dishes, and there's a good chance that vegetarian options will be available. However, the range of vegetarian choices might be more limited compared to non-vegetarian options.

Be sure to check for any prohibited items as well, such as sharp objects, flammable materials, and certain liquids and gels, which are regulated for carry-on luggage. Please notice that oxygen cylinders are generally not allowed to bring on the planes, so you don’t need to pack them.

Pre-ordering specific dietary meals like vegetarian, is not commonly offered as a service on Tibet trains. You can go to the dining carriages to order dishes during meal time. Inform the train staff about your dietary requirements. They may be able to provide some assistance or direct you to available vegetarian options. You also have a few options to ensure your dietary needs are met. For example, consider bringing your own vegetarian meals or snacks for the journey, which gives you the most control over your food choices.

If you have further questions, feel free to contact us! I hope you can enjoy your train journey through the diverse landscapes of China on your way to Tibet!
