    Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet, serving as a center for Tibetan Buddhism. It became the political, economic, and cultural center of Tibet during the reign of the Karma Dynasty.

    Rongbuk Monastery

    Situated at an altitude of 4,980 meters (16,340 feet), it is no doubt the highest monastery in the world. Its unique location decides that it serves as the gateway to Mount Everest. And it is also the perfect place to take a look at the north face of Mount Everest. The white pagoda makes the mountain behind it more majestic and breathtaking. Walking from there, tourists will get a chance to see the famous Rongbuk Glacier which stretches more than 20 kilometers.
