China Visa-Free Policy for 47 Countries: Update 2025

According to the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 21, China has implemented a 30-day visa-free entry to citizens of 47 countries for business, tourism, family visits, exchanges, and transit purposes. Here comes a list of the 47 countries eligible for visa-free entry: Brunei, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain.

Starting from December 1st, 2023, China has unilaterally implemented a visa-free policy for citizens holding ordinary passports from France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia to enhance high-level opening-up.

In order to further promote the exchange of people between China and other countries, China has decided to expand the scope of visa exemption. Citizens holding ordinary passports from Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg will be eligible for a trial visa-free policy on March 14th, 2024.

This policy will be effective from March 14th to November 30th, 2024. During this period, citizens from the aforementioned countries holding ordinary passports can enter China for purposes such as business, tourism, visiting relatives, or transit for up to 15 days without a visa.

Individuals from the aforementioned countries who do not meet the requirements for visa exemption will still need to obtain a visa for China before entering.
