1. Ring out the Oldand Ring in the New, and Celebrate the Tibetan New Year

The Tibetan New Year in 2021 is February 12, which coincides with the same day as the Lunar New Year. For Tibetans, the Tibetan New Year is the most traditional and solemn festival of a year, and it is also a festival of celebration and prayer.

If you want to ask where is the most sacred and beautiful place? It must be Tibet in winter. Only travelers who come to Tibet in winter can truly understand Tibet.

2. Avoid Peak Travel Times and the Noisy Crowds

In winter, there are much fewer tourists in Tibet than in the peak season. There are no jackets of all kinds on the street, and the impetuousness returns to tranquility, and the Tibetan flavor is stronger.

3. Experience the Unique Festival Culture, Rosa TashiDelek

The Tibetan New Year starts on the 29th of the twelfth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar, "The Night of Gutu". On this day, people eat noodle soup and hold a torch, driving out the bad luck and illness of the past year.

The 30th of the twelfth lunar month in the Tibetan calendar is the New Year’s Eve, and the "Eight Ruixiang" is arranged, the "Chima" is placed, and the "Kasai" and "Duke" are made.

On the 1st day of the new year, people drink "jiang ku" and eat "chima" with family and share lamb's head meat.

At the beginning of the second day of the Tibetan calendar, people would go to the temple, go to kora around the mountains, visit relatives and friends, insert new prayer flags, or watch outdoor activities such as horse racing and Tibetan opera.

4. View the Purer and more ExtremePlateau Scenery

Tibet in winter has better weather and bluer sky. Compared with the frequent clouds and fog in summer, Tibet has better transparency in winter, and it is easier to shoot large snow-capped mountains.

If you can see the true face of Nanjia Bawa Peak, for which there is a saying of "nine out of ten",  it would be good luck to make a New Year's wish to the sacred mountain.

5. The most Important Thing is that Tibet in winter is very Cost-Effective

There is no need to grab a flight or train ticket to travel to Tibet. There are a lot of ¥400 and ¥500 air tickets from Shanghai to Lhasa or from Beijing to Lhasa. From Chongqing, Chengdu, or Xi'an to Lhasa, flight ticket is even as low as ¥200+.

In addition, Tibet is free of tickets in winter, and most of the hotels is half price. You can easily save a lot of money. The most cost-effective one is definitely the exquisite winter in Tibet with few people.
