Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Tibet had to be closed to all international tourists to avoid further impacts. But from May 9th, all expats in mainland China can travel to Tibet through a Tibet tourism agency, which is exciting and joyful for expats in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and other major cities in China.

What Documents Beijing Expats need for Tibet Tours?

For Beijing expats to Tibet, they need to obtain a Tibet Travel Permit firstly. It is a must for all foreign tourists if they want to get to Tibet. But the Tibet Travel Permit will not be issued to any individuals according to the local policy. So, Beijing expats need to contact a Tibet travel agency to apply for it. After getting in touch with your tour consultant, you will be required to send the copies of Chinese Visa, passport and other necessary documents for the application of the Tibet Travel Permit. Once the Tibet Tourism Bureau approves your application and issues the permit paper, we will deliver it to your address.

But the Tibet Travel Permit cannot take you to whatever you want to go in Tibet. You can only visit Lhasa and its surrounding places. That is to say, there are other documents you need to apply if you want to visit Mount Everest region, Mount Kailash, etc. For more detailed information, you can contact Tibet Tourism and we will help plan your tour in Tibet and avoid unnecessary works.

What’s more, during this unusual situation of COVID-19, a negative nucleic acid test report within 7 days is necessary for tourists to get into Tibet. All people need to follow the local prevention policies, which is also good for everyone in this sacred place. And remember to prepare the Green Health Code and 14-day Dynamic Trip Record that can be gained in the app of Alipay or WeChat.

If you prefer a Tibet train tour, you can book a Beijing Lhasa Train ticket to realize your dream. Besides, flights that will transfer at other airports are also available for Beijing expats to choose. Those flights will transfer at Xining Caojiabao International Airport, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, and Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, which will take from 5 hours to 7 hours.
