Landscape Avenue of China ( G318 to Lhasa Overland Journey)

Embarking on the "Landscape Avenue of China" on the G318 National Road with Tibet Horizon was a dream come true for me. Having experienced overland trips before, I've always looked forward to exploring Tibet in this unique way. I really enjoyed the time on the road. The scenic beauty of the winding roads, towering mountains, and vast plateaus was simply breathtaking. Every turn offered a new vista, each more stunning than the last. The freedom of the open road combined with the profound sense of adventure made this journey unforgettable. Another moment that truly stood out was our visit to the historic Potala Palace. The depth of history and culture that our guide shared during this visit was unlike anything I've encountered on previous journeys. And our guide, Mr. Tenzin Jamphel, was incredibly responsible and knowledgeable. Not only did he have a deep understanding of the local culture and history of the Tibetan people, but he also took great care to address each of our requests with meticulous attention to detail.

Tibet Horizon did an exceptional job in making this trip memorable. The comfortable accommodations, engaging narratives of the driver, and the overall organization exceeded my expectations. I'm grateful to Tibet Horizon for crafting such a meaningful and unforgettable adventure to Tibet, allowing me to fulfill a long-held dream.

Standing at this situation, the scenery of Potala Palace looks holier.

In Lulang Forest, Tibetans feed many horses and we can ride them.

Beside the Jinsha River, the sights made us carefree and joyous.

Can Foreigners Traveling with Chinese Citizens Independently?

A friend in China invited me to join an overland car trip to Tibet from Chengdu this summer. I've read that Tibet permits for foreigners must be obtained through an agency and that overland travel from Sichuan is not allowed for foreigners. My friend thinks it won't be an issue. I don't want to cause problems for their group. Can foreigners travel into Tibet with Chinese citizens by car?

Mr. Lhakpa Tsering from Tibet Horizon, answered on February 7th, 2024

Dear Kok, thank you for reaching out with your question.

Traveling to Tibet as a foreigner does come with specific requirements and restrictions. While it is true that Tibet permits are required for foreign travelers and are typically obtained through an agency, we understand your concern about joining a group of Chinese citizens on an overland car trip from Chengdu.

Foreigners are generally required to travel with an organized tour that includes a guide and transportation arranged by a travel agency. Traveling overland from Sichuan to Tibet can be particularly challenging for foreigners due to these regulations. However, we are here to assist you in making this trip possible without disrupting your friends' plans.

We can provide detailed information about your travel plans and help ensure that all necessary permits and arrangements are in place. Our goal is to make your journey as smooth and enjoyable as possible while adhering to all legal requirements. Please feel free to contact us with any further questions or needs you may have. We are here to help and look forward to assisting you in planning your trip to Tibet.

Yunnan-Sichuan-Tibet Road Trip Worth Going in December?

Hi, I am planning to do an overland road trip to Tibet in December through Yunnan and Sichuan. It will be winter then. Will the scenery be good or will it just be splash of white? Is it worthwhile to go for this road trip in winter?

Mr. Karma from Tibet Horizon, answered on October 16th, 2023

Dear Moreno, thank you for reaching out to us. While winter in Tibet can indeed be snowy, resulting in a stunning landscape blanketed in white, it also brings challenges such as icy roads and potential travel disruptions due to weather conditions.

Despite the challenges, a winter road trip to Tibet can offer unique and breathtaking scenery, with snow-capped mountains, frozen lakes, and serene landscapes. However, it's crucial to be well-prepared for the cold weather and potential travel delays.

Whether the trip is worthwhile depends on your preferences and willingness to embrace winter conditions. If you enjoy snowy landscapes and are prepared for the challenges of winter travel, it can be a rewarding experience. However, if you prefer milder weather and smoother travel conditions, you may want to consider visiting Tibet during other seasons.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with your travel plans, please don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to help.
