    Permit Needed for Macau Residents

Hi! My family plans to travel to Tibet this year. All of us are Maocau residents with SAR passport. Do we need to apply for the Tibet Travel Permit?

Mr. Kalsang Younten from Tibet Horizon, answered on June 13th, 2024

Dear Chen, thank you for your inquiry.

Macau residents can independently travel to Tibet with a Chinese SAR passport and a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents. To visit places like Tingri in Shigatse, Cuona County in Shannan Prefecture, and Nagri Prefecture, you may need a Tibet Border Permit. The Boder Permit cannot be applied by yourselves but can only be applied by a qualified Tibet travel agency. Our Xizang (Tibet) tour packages include all the necessary Tibet travel documents. If you book with us, we’ll help apply for the Tibet Border Permit to ensure a smooth and worry-free Tibet tour.
