Food and Water Restriction on the Train

Are there any restrictions or requirements for carrying food or water on the train from Chengdu to Lhasa?

Mr. Tenzin Sherab from Tibet Horizon, answered on September 7th, 2024

Dear Tan, thank you for extending your question to us.

On the train from Chengdu to Lhasa, there are generally no strict restrictions on carrying food or water. Passengers are allowed to bring their own snacks and beverages. However, it’s advisable to pack non-perishable food items and ensure that liquids are in containers of 100 ml or less if carrying them through security checks at stations. The train also has a dining car where you can purchase meals and drinks. Keep in mind that food and drink availability can be limited, so bringing your own supplies is a good idea for the long journey.
