Yushu Horse Racing Festival held from July 25 to August 1 every year

Yushu Horse Racing Festival held in Qinghai Province is one of the most famous festivals in Yushu and all over the Tibetan region. It will be celebrated in Yushu from July 25 to August 1 every year, which will draw thousands of people from over the Tibetan region to join. Yushu is located in southern Qinghai province on the northern Tibetan Plateau. With an elevation of around 3,700 meters above sea level, Yushu is well known as "Master of the Famous Mountains" and "Home of Singing and Dance." That is because local people are good at singing and dancing.

Traditional dancers from six counties of Yushu Prefecture will perform across Yushu City street to attend the opening ceremony in the main venue. And by lighting a bundle of mulberry branches at the north end of the stadium, the opening ceremony officially begins with the performances of local people.

During the weeklong spectacular Horse Racing Festival, tourists will get to see a "tent city" formed by thousands of colorful tents, the beautiful performance of Khampa Tibetan traditional costumes, the famous performance of Yushu songs and dances, as well as passionate and wild Khampa horseback archery.
