Every Moment in Tibet Was Unforgettable: Travel in Lhasa City

This was not my first trip to Tibet. Memories of the snow-capped mountains, serene lakes, and ancient temples often resurfaced after my last visit. But this trip still surprised me a lot. During my previous visit in the summer, I was in a hurry and didn't have much time to explore the region thoroughly. However, this time, with the help of my guide, I was able to experience the rich culture and history of Tibet. The four-day trip was short, but every moment was unforgettable.

A 4-Day Package Tour with Tibet Horizon: Lhasa City Walk

I went on a 4-day package tour with Tibet Horizon. Prior to our arrival in Lhasa a few days ago, the company had completed customs clearance procedures smoothly. Upon our arrival in Lhasa, we met our guide. Over the following days, our guide showed us around some of the region's characteristic architecture and introduced us to Tibetan Buddhism, such as the Potala Palace and some historical temples, which gave us insight into the history and culture of Lhasa. We also got to sample the local food, including yak butter tea, I really enjoyed it. Although the trip was short, I would love to visit other places in Tibet if I have the chance, and Tibet Horizon will be my first choice next time.

Authentic Tibet Yamdrok Lake Experience for Our Anniversary

An awesome experience! After finishing our Lhasa City journey, we stumbled upon this local village festival by chance, it was one of the best moments of our whole trip. We got invited to join in their traditional dances and songs, and they even treated us to some mouth-watering traditional grub. It was like diving headfirst into the heart of their culture, you know? This experience really gave us a deeper understanding of Tibet's cultural vibes. Additionally, our visit to Yamdrok Lake was absolutely breathtaking. The turquoise waters, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, were mesmerizing and added to the profound beauty of our adventure. This serene and stunning landscape provided a perfect backdrop for reflection and appreciation of Tibet's natural splendor. Big shout out to our guide for hooking us up with such a rad and meaningful experience that made our trip so darn fun and memorable.

An Awesome Tibet Journey Shouldn't Be Missed out Lhasa and Yamdrok Lake

This time I came to Tibet with my Chinese friend, who recommended this travel agency to me. I initially thought that it would be quite cumbersome for foreigners to enter Tibet, but this company organized the entire itinerary very efficiently. Our guide was there to greet us as soon as we got off the train, and for the next five days of our trip, all I had to do was to enjoy the journey with my friend, taking some photos, listening to the history of Tibet, and admiring the beautiful scenery. I was originally worried about altitude sickness, but it never occurred. Now, when I look at the photos taken during that time, I feel the urge to visit Tibet again.

I Am Truly Satisfied with My Six-Day Trip to Namtso

I rarely leave reviews, but I am truly satisfied with my six-day trip to Tibet, so I want to write a review for Tibet Horizon to provide some reference for those who want to travel to Tibet. Before departure, the company helped us handle the Tibet Travel Permit and mailed it to our hotel. When we arrived in Lhasa by train, the driver and guide were already waiting for us at the station. Upon arrival at the plateau, one might feel a bit uncomfortable, but our guide was clearly experienced, and with his advice, our altitude sickness was alleviated. Over the next two days, we visited various temples and the Potala Palace in Lhasa. It felt surreal, like standing at the intersection of history and reality, with one side being the present and the other the past. In the following two days, we visited the beautiful Namtso Lake and enjoyed hot springs, which was very relaxing. On the last day, we boarded the return train with six-day unforgettable memory. I am very grateful to our guide, who patiently answered all our questions and organized the itinerary efficiently. I also liked our driver, who always smiled at us. I will miss these lovely people.

Everything Was Perfect, but the Times in Lhasa and Namtso Were Short

Attentive and thoughtful guide, composed and modest driver, excellent accommodations, exotic Tibetan cuisine, clear weather, majestic Potala Palace, pristine Namtso Lake, relaxing hot springs - everything was perfect. The only downside was that the time was too short. I've heard that the sunrise and sunset at the EBC are breathtakingly beautiful. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to visit this time, but I hope to make up for this regret next time.

Tibet, A Place with Rich History and Holy Lakes

I used to love big cities, with their hustle and bustle. But after spending a long time in them, I began to feel like something was missing. So, I developed a fondness for traveling to places with rich histories. Tibet is clearly not a bustling place, yet it has a unique charm. Here, I can feel a sense of tranquility and be moved by its thousands of years of history. Through the existing historical structures, I catch glimpses of its true historical significance. In addition, its unique charm is also reflected in its beautiful natural scenery. By the Namtso Lake, you can feel the tranquility brought by nature. I want to express my gratitude to my guide. He shared with me many stories about the history and culture of Tibet, and introduced me to Tibetan Buddhism. Thanks to him, I feel closer to history and have a better understanding of Tibet as a place.

A Lifetime Trip to Tibet: Lhasa and Namtso Lake

This was a trip of a lifetime to Tibet. I've been browsing online for info about Tibet trips since last year, and finally, on my friend's recommendation, we chose Tibet Horizon. Our guide was a local Tibetan who knew almost everything about Tibet's history and culture, and his English was pretty good too. Plus, we met some amazing travel buddies, laughing and joking all the way, visiting temples in Lhasa, admiring the beauty of Namtso Lake, and even soaking in relaxing hot springs. Six days flew by in a flash, and we even exchanged contact details to travel together in the future. Oh, and one more thing worth mentioning – I really love the photos our guide took for us; they make me feel like I'm back in Tibet again.

A Blast on My Six-Day Lhasa and Namtso Lake Trip

I had a blast on my six-day Tibet trip! On the train, we zipped through majestic snowy mountains, lush grasslands, and vast highland plains, totally blown away by nature's masterpiece, not to mention the feeling of having my soul cleansed at the sacred lake. When we arrived in Lhasa, our guide was with us every step of the way, filling us in on Tibetan lifestyle and traditions. I learned so much and had a blast experiencing the unique culture in Lhasa and the tranquility of Namtso firsthand. Enjoy Colorful Culture in Lhasa and Natural Charm of Yamdrok

For those like me who enjoy experiencing different cultures, Tibet is definitely a place worth visiting. I was amazed to find that in such a modernized world, there are still places that maintain their ethnic uniqueness. The scenery of Namtso Lake is breathtaking: the lake is like a piece of green agate - beautiful and pure. But it's the cultural landscape that captivates me most - the sacred palaces and devout monks, and even the most ordinary people, all possess their own faith. I thoroughly enjoyed my six-day journey in Tibet and am grateful to Tibet Horizon for arranging everything for me.

A short yet unforgettable journey to Tibet! The scenery of Lhasa and Yamdrok Lake is indeed breathtaking. The weather was perfect the day we visited Yamdrok Lake. Amazing Lhasa and Yamdrok Trip That I Will Never Forget

I had an amazing tour recently that I will never forget, especially the moment we visited Lhasa City and Yamdrok Lake! Although I've been to many places in the last few years, this one was definitely the best. The guide was exceptional and had arranged everything perfectly, leaving me free to enjoy the journey. He was also very humorous, so the journey was never boring. My favorite part of the tour was visiting Potala Palace and watching the monks chanting. I also got to try some local cuisines, and I highly recommend the yak butter tea to anyone visiting Tibet. Although the tour was short, every moment was filled with joy. I would like to express my gratitude to the tour company for such a memorable experience.

An Unforgettable Cultural Adventure in Lhasa

I had always heard about the severe effects of altitude sickness in Tibet, but luckily, with the guidance of our tour guide, most of us didn't experience severe altitude sickness. It just took us a day or two to acclimatize to the altitude, and then in the following days, we made a profound exploration of Tibetan. In Lhasa City, I made an unforgettable cultural adventure  by visiting all kind of palaces and temples like Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple. Admiring the beauty of Yamdrok Lake is a kind of natural adventure. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, so each stop was accompanied by insightful commentary on history and culture. Highly recommend Tibet Horizon for an unforgettable adventure in Tibet.

Five-Star Review for the 8-Day Kathmandu Overland to Lhasa Journey

Our Tibet journey started in Kathmandu, and the scenic drive across the Himalayas to Lhasa was nothing short of breathtaking. The landscapes were stunning, and our driver was skilled and cautious, making us feel safe and comfortable throughout the trip. We visit to Mt. Everest, watching the sunset over Everest. And although we didn't stay overnight at the 5200m EBC tent, the day visit was perfectly managed and exhilarating. On the fifth day of our trip, we arrived in Lhasa. In Lhasa City, the visit to the historic Potala Palace was a profound experience. It was incredible to see the traditional home of the Dalai Lama up close and learn about its rich history. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to share fascinating insights about Tibetan culture and history. Their passion for the region was evident and added a lot of value to our experience. It was the Tibet Horizon's attention to detail and personal care that made this trip truly special. All I want to say is thank you, Tibet Horizon, for an incredible journey!

We Emerged in Pleasant Journey of Lhasa, Shigatse and Namtso

I love this Tibet journey! Throughout the trip, our tour guide took excellent care of our needs, providing valuable advice on alleviating altitude sickness. I also enjoyed the pleasant weather here, with comfortable temperatures and cool breezes. We were incredibly fortunate to witness the stunning lake attractions, and to catch sight of the mesmerizing Milky Way sling on the lawns at night. It's been a while since I've seen so many stars in the sky. Despite the weather not being perfect on the day we visited the two sacred lakes, the beauty of these natural wonders was undeniable. Lastly, the accommodations and dining options provided exceeded my expectations.

I took this piture at the back of the Potala Palace.

At Yamdrok Lake,my friends and I left a souvenir of memory.

A good trip is one that stays with you long after it's over. Just like these eight days of Tibet travel, as I sit down to write this review at home, every moment comes flooding back to me. Exhilarating Helicopter Tour from Nepal to Tibet: Mount Kailash & Lake Manasaover

As a frequent traveler, I was looking for a unique and spiritual adventure, and the 9-day helicopter tour exceeded all my expectations. The journey began with an exhilarating helicopter ride from Nepal, offering stunning views of the towering peaks of the Himalayas. Upon landing, our guide, Mr. Passang Norbu, welcomed us warmly. He was not just a guide but a storyteller, sharing fascinating insights about Tibetan culture and the spiritual significance of our destinations. Under his guidance, we visited the sacred lake, standing by its tranquil shores at sunrise and feeling a deep sense of peace and connection with nature. The water was so clear that it reflected the surrounding snow-capped mountains perfectly, creating a breathtaking scene. The kora around Mount Kailash was a unique experience for me. Although I am not religious, walking among the pilgrims, I felt a profound sense of spirituality and dedication. Each step of the kora, as we circled the holy mountain, seemed to carry a sense of reverence and hope. I found myself silently sharing in the pilgrims' devotion and aspirations. The entire trip was well-planned, with seamless logistics and comfortable accommodations. The meals provided were delicious and catered to our dietary needs, which was much appreciated after long days of trekking. The support and care provided by the tour company and our guide made all the difference. I returned home with unforgettable memories and a renewed sense of purpose.

At Mount Kailash, we can see many Tibetans are making a devout obeisance.

Landscape Avenue of China ( G318 to Lhasa Overland Journey)

Embarking on the "Landscape Avenue of China" on the G318 National Road with Tibet Horizon was a dream come true for me. Having experienced overland trips before, I've always looked forward to exploring Tibet in this unique way. I really enjoyed the time on the road. The freedom of the open road combined with the profound sense of adventure made this journey unforgettable. Another moment that truly stood out was our visit to the historic Potala Palace. The depth of history and culture that our guide shared during this visit was unlike anything I've encountered on previous journeys. And our guide, Mr. Tenzin Jamphel, was incredibly responsible and knowledgeable. Not only did he have a deep understanding of the local culture and history of the Tibetan people, but he also took great care to address each of our requests with meticulous attention to detail.

Tibet Horizon did an exceptional job in making this trip memorable. The comfortable accommodations, engaging narratives of the driver, and the overall organization exceeded my expectations. I'm grateful to Tibet Horizon for crafting such a meaningful and unforgettable adventure to Tibet, allowing me to fulfill a long-held dream.

We recently finished our unforgettable honeymoon trip to Tibet, and we can't thank Tibet Horizon enough for their outstanding service! From the start, we were impressed by how quickly they handled our Tibet travel permits and customized our itinerary. The team was efficient and made sure we had everything we needed, which made our journey smooth and hassle-free.

Our itinerary was perfectly balanced, including visits to the iconic Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery, as well as an incredible overnight stay at Everest Base Camp. Watching the sunrise and the Milky Way from the top of the world was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about each site while also recommending great spots for photography.

We particularly loved the stunning scenery at Lake Yamdrok. The turquoise waters were breathtaking, and our guide arranged a lovely picnic by the lake, giving us a peaceful moment to soak in the beauty. The accommodations and transportation were also top-notch, ensuring we were comfortable and well-rested each night for the next day's adventures.

In Kailash, I took this symbolic picture that Tibetan woman is holding a horse.

In EBC, we challengend ourselves and took this photo as a souvenir.

Trekking in High Altitude in Journey of Tibet: Kailash + Manasarovar + Kathmandu

Our journey included incredible visits to the two monasteries, where we got to witness the lively monk debates. But the highlight of our trip was definitely the three-day kora around Mt. Kailash. Trekking at high altitude was challenging, but the stunning landscapes and the spiritual atmosphere made it all worth it. Our guide was fantastic, providing not only historical context but also encouragement and support throughout the trek. The trip also featured some breathtaking stops, like the serene lake and the picturesque Everest Base Camp, where we stayed overnight. Watching the stars and the sunrise over Mt. Everest was truly magical. The guide made sure we were comfortable throughout, with excellent accommodations and reliable transportation.

For anyone planning a trip to Tibet, we highly recommend this travel agency! They made our trekking adventure truly unforgettable, and their attentive service ensured everything went smoothly.

Pilgrimage and Trekking Tour: Soul Cleansing and Purification in Tibet - Everest & Kailash & Manasaovar

The 15-day journey to Tibet is the farthest place I've traveled to so far. During these 15 days, I gained a lot.. The views around the Mount Kailash during the 3-day pilgrimage were breathtaking, especially when the sun's rays made the snow-capped peaks glow. The bright turquoise water of one of the sacred lakes, surrounded by tall mountains, was a real highlight, and another lake we visited was just as beautiful and peaceful. Visiting the famous Potala Palace was like stepping back in time. It's filled with cool history and amazing architecture. Also, I tried the local food, and my favorites were butter tea and yogurt. Throughout the trip, my guide was super helpful and reliable, making everything run smoothly. Big thanks to my guide and Tibet Horizon for making this trip unforgettable! Can't wait to see where we'll go next time!

Different Culture in Tibet: Saga Dawa Festival in Lhasa, Everest and Kailash

My trip to Tibet was absolutely magical! This was my first time visiting Tibet, and the 16-day tour exceeded all my expectations. Watching the sun set and rise over Mt. Everest was surreal!

The part that touched me the most was participating in the Saga Dawa Festival and the kora around Mt. Kailash. I loved joining the local pilgrims and learning about their customs and beliefs. It was a spiritual journey as much as it was a physical one.

I Will Cherish the Journey: Surreal And Moving - Kailash & Manasarovar & Guge

As a solo traveler and passionate photographer, I was thrilled with every moment of this journey. From the start, Tibet Horizon’s service was impeccable. Our guide, was incredibly attentive, ensuring that everyone in the group was comfortable and well-informed. He even helped me find the best spots to capture the perfect shots of the landscapes.

The tour kicked off with a visit to Jokhang Temple, the most sacred temple in Tibet. The energy there was palpable, and I felt deeply connected to the spiritual atmosphere. Staying overnight at EBC was another highlight. Watching the sunset and sunrise over Mt. Everest was a surreal experience. I set up my camera and managed to capture some stunning photos that I’ll cherish forever. The scenery at two sacred lakes was breathtaking. I spent hours just sitting by the lakes, soaking in the beauty and tranquility.

A unique part of this tour was visiting the Kingdom Ruins. It felt like stepping back in time, and guide’s stories about the history and mysteries of the kingdom added so much depth to the experience. The 3-day kora around Mt. Kailash on the full moon day was the most spiritual part of the trip. Joining the pilgrims and sharing this profound journey was incredibly moving. I even made a few friends among the pilgrims who taught me traditional songs and prayers. Tibet Horizon’s meticulous planning and warm hospitality made this trip unforgettable. Enriching Tibet Journey with Exceptional Guide and Landscapes: Lhasa, Everest And Guge Kingdom

Our guide, Mr. Kalsang Younten, was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly attentive to all our needs. One memorable instance was when I lost my camera battery charger at a guesthouse. Mr. Kalsang Younten went out of his way to contact the previous guesthouse, arrange for the charger to be sent to our next destination, and even lent me his personal charger in the meantime. This level of care and dedication truly stood out.

During this journey, I felt deeply immersed in Tibet's culture and history, gaining a greater understanding of the region. I also witnessed many stunning landscapes: the sacred Jokhang Temple, the awe-inspiring sunrise over Mt. Everest at EBC, the turquoise waters of the two sacred, and the ancient, mysterious Kingdom Ruins. This experience stood out compared to my previous travels, making Tibet one of the most enriching places I’ve visited.

In all, Tibet Horizon’s meticulous planning and personal touch made this trip truly special. If you’re looking to explore Tibet’s rich culture and breathtaking landscapes, this tour is a must. I highly recommend it!

This Tibet trip with Lhasa Everest and sacred lakes is wonderful! We’re lucky to be able to travel there during Shoton Festival, one of the biggest traditional festivals celebrated in Tibet. We watched a giant Thangka unveiling at an ancient Monastery and many pilgrims worshipping and presenting Hadas. There were many locals selling homemade yogurt and singing and dancing. The Journey Cannot Express in Words: Quite Satisfaction in Namtso, Yamdrok and EBC

Cannot express in words my satisfaction with this journey to Tibet. I enjoyed our guide immensely, he is knowledgeable about Tibetan culture and history, fluent in English, and adept at communicating with us. Moreover, he organized each day of the trip impeccably. Over the course of eight days, we visited the Potala Palace, two sacred lakes, witnessed sunrise and sunset at EBC, and gazed at the starry night sky. I appreciate the simplicity of the Tibetan people here and the cool weather, along with the pristine sky untouched by pollution. It was lifetime experience in Tibet.

My husband and I both like this feeling thst simbols freedom.

BLue sky and water, adorned by white clouds, Left us relaxed and happy.

Five-Star Tibet Journey in EBC, Lhasa and Namtso

Choosing to come to Tibet was the first right decision I made, and selecting Tibet Horizon was another correct choice. I am highly satisfied with the guide they arranged for me, who is a local Tibetan deeply knowledgeable and passionate about Tibetan culture. We learned a lot about Tibet through him. The accommodation and local food arranged were excellent, exceeding my expectations. The local scenery was also extremely charming, with my favorite part being watching the sunrise and sunset at EBC. I strongly recommend everyone to embark on a journey to Tibet.

Wonderful Tibet Tour Featuring Nyingchi and EBC: Travel in Eastern and Central Tibet

I joined the 10-day Tibet group tour with my friend. I was amazed by the picturesque landscapes in Nyingchi. Lulang Forest, Basumtso Lake, and other spots are all stunning! Nyingchi is definitely a must-visit place in Tibet. Then in Lhasa, I visited several ancient monasteries and saw many devotees. The most exciting moment of the entire journey must be the first glimpse of Mt. Everest. It’s just breathtaking! Thank Tibet Horizon for organizing this wonderful trip. Our small group only had 8 people and our tour guide cared every one of us. Now that my friends and I have returned to Australia, we often talk about this wonderful trip. We all hope to have the opportunity to travel to Tibet again.

It has been a long-time dream for me and my wife to set foot in Tibet. Thank you Tibet Horizon for making our dream come true. This journey was amazing as we enjoyed the natural beauty and explored Tibetan culture. We tasted the authentic local flavor and we love yak hotpot and barley bread. Viewing the majestic Everest in person is amazing. We’re lucky to see the stunning sunrise view at EBC. I experienced mild symptoms of altitude sickness when I stayed at EBC. Thank our tour guide for giving me useful advice and taking good care of me. He’s really a wonderful person. Again, thank very much to TH, our consultant, guide, and driver. You made it happen for me and my wife. This incredible trip will be one of the best memories in my life.

Unique Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival Experience

My wife and I joined this small group of six in Tibet in early April. It’s time when the peach blossoms are in full bloom. We’re lucky to view such a beautiful scene that the pick clusters dotted the valleys, fields, and villages. The view of Polata Palace is amazing, too! It’s a grand complex standing tall in the center of Tibet. We also had a chance to see the towering Mt. Everest and we took many photos there. All in all, it’s such an unforgettable journey. Thank you Tibet Horizon for arranging this perfect trip for us. Your professional team including friendly consultants to experienced guides and drivers did a wonderful job in ensuring our travel went smoothly.

Incredible Tibet Trip Featuring Peach Blossoms in Nyingchi

I took this Tibet tour with my boyfriend. The peach blossoms in Nyingchi and Bomi were so beautiful that I thought I was in a wonderland. Our Lhasa tour impressed me because it allowed us to appreciate the exquisite cultural relics, murals, and statues in the temples and monasteries as well as explore Tibetan history and culture. Our journey to Mount Everest is one of the best memories of my lifetime! We’re lucky to catch the stunning sunset when the golden light cast on the highest peak. It’s a wonderful journey and I want to thank Tibet Horizon for giving me such an unforgettable birthday experience. Our tour guide Mr. Passang Norbu is knowledgable and funny. He treated us like close friends and always cared about our conditions. Given a chance, I’ll definitely go to Tibet again.

Fantastic Tibet Journey with a Lifetime Kailash Kora

My husband and I are natural lovers. We enjoy walking among the wildness and fully appreciate the natural sceneries on the road. In this regard, we chose this trip as it includes many natural sites like Yamdrok, Everest, Kailash, and Manasarovar. We trekked around Mount Kailash for 3 days. It’s a lifetime chance to join many pilgrims to do a yatra and we not only enjoyed the stunning nature there but also felt a rich religious atmosphere. The lakes we had been to are all beautiful. The waters are clean and blue, reflecting the clouds and green hills. We felt that our bodies and minds had been purified. In a word, this Tibet journey is fantastic. The arrangements made by Tibet Horizon were perfect and met all our requirements. Our guide is kind and follows our conditions throughout the process. This tour will be treasured for our lifetime.

Unique Tibet Trekking Experience in Mount Kailash Area

I’m a solo traveler and decided to join this small group for a Tibet trip with the Kailash trek. The group members were all kind and we had a great time together. We visited Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and famous monasteries, where our guide introduced Tibetan history, culture, and religious beliefs to us. Going to Everest, I was excited to see the world’s highest peak in person. I only saw it in books! The Kailash trek went smoothly. The route is well-planned and our guide often asked us about our conditions. I have to admit that I need to strengthen my physical strength because it seemed that everyone else had more energy than me. It’s a unique experience as it blended with a dense religious atmosphere. We saw many pilgrims, colorful flags, and stone piles of religious significance along the way. We also visited Guge Kingdom. The unique landscape impressed me very much. Generally speaking, I enjoyed this trip. Tibet Horizon met everything they promised and indeed gave superior services. I highly appreciate that.!

Immersive Cultural Odyssey in Tibet - Ngari & Mount Kailash & Guge Kingdom

The16-day Tibet journey was a captivating cultural odyssey. Having read about Tibetan traditions, nothing prepared me for the profound impact of experiencing it firsthand. The pilgrimage kora around Mount Kailash was a spiritual revelation, witnessing the devout Tibetan pilgrims engrossed in prayer and reverence left an indelible mark on my soul. The visit to Potala Palace and Guge Kingdom, guided by our knowledgeable companion, deepened my understanding and admiration for Tibetan culture. Each historical relic told a story of resilience and spirituality, enriching my appreciation for this ancient civilization.

Moreover, Tibet's pristine natural beauty captivated me at every turn. The untouched landscapes felt like stepping into a utopian paradise, while the azure waters of Lake Yamdrok, Manasarovar, and Namtso reflected a purity rarely seen elsewhere. The ethereal experience of witnessing sunrise and sunset at Everest Base Camp, with the Milky Way adorning the night sky, felt like a celestial gift.

Throughout the sixteen-day journey, Tibet Horizon's meticulous attention to detail ensured a seamless experience. Their thoughtful service, from adjusting the pace of the itinerary to accommodate our needs, to providing enriching cultural insights, made every moment unforgettable. I am deeply grateful for the memories created and wholeheartedly recommend Tibet Horizon to fellow travelers seeking an immersive cultural and natural exploration of Tibet.

Tibetan Adventure: A Journey to Remember (Mount Kailash + Guge Kingdom + Namtso Lake)

Back home now, but those sixteen days in Tibet are still fresh in my mind. I can still see the grandeur of the Potala Palace and hear the monks chanting in the temples. And the trek around Mount Kailash is something I'll never forget. The devotion of the local Tibetans left a deep impression on me. And those three sacred lakes are absolutely breathtaking. Each one was like a picture-perfect postcard.

I'm so glad I chose Tibet Horizon for this trip. Everything was so well-organized, thanks to our amazing guide. He knew everything about Tibetan culture and could answer any question we threw at him. And his English is impressive, to say the least. The hotels he picked were comfortable, and the local food he recommended—like "tsampa" and yak yogurt—was delicious.

    Kids Traveling to EBC Possible?

Good evening. I'm planning a trip to EBC with my family. We have a kid of 8 and an elderly person of 67. I’m wondering if they may experience severe altitude sickness.

Mr. Kalsang Rinchen from Tibet Horizon, answered on December 18th, 2023

    Dear Margaret,

Thank you for reaching out with your inquiry about traveling to Tibet. We appreciate your interest and are happy to assist you.

In fact, altitude sickness has little to do with age, and is mainly related to personal hypoxia tolerance and how you acclimate to the high altitude. Traveling on the Tibet Plateau, it’s common for some tourists to experience altitude sickness. To minimize the effect of altitude sickness, it is important to allow time to acclimate to the high altitude and to take precautions to prevent altitude sickness. You should drink plenty of water, eat light meals, and avoid alcohol or caffeine. It is also recommended to take a slow path in the first two days after entering Tibet and ascend gradually to a higher altitude. We also strongly recommend doing physical examinations and consulting a doctor before taking a Tibet trip.

We have carefully planned our routes, giving you enough time to adapt to the plateau environment before heading to EBC. Our local guides will closely follow your family’s health condition and offer timely assistance throughout your stay in Tibet. We have successfully received many small kids and seniors traveling to Tibet. With thoughtful arrangements, we ensure a safe Tibet tour to Mt. Everest area. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re always here to help you figure out a safe and comfortable Tibet family tour!

Travel to Lhasa and Everest in July

Hi! I am planning to visit Lhasa and Everest in the middle of July, but I have heard that there will be a rainy season. How is the actual condition over there in July? Is it possible to view Mt. Everest?

Mr. Tenzin Sherab from Tibet Horizon, answered on March 15th, 2024

    Dear Amanda,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

It's true that July, August and September are the rainy season in Tibet. But that doesn't mean it will rain every day. In those months there will be more clouds than in other months, but that doesn't mean that there won't be blue skies. You can be lucky to enjoy the blue sky, sunlight and clear view of Mt. Everest, but you can also be unlucky and Mt. Everest will be in the clouds. If you want to have a bigger chance to see Mount Everest clearly with blue sky, you better visit before July or after mid September. The best time to join a Tibet tour to Lhasa and EBC is generally from April to June and from September to October. During these months, the weather is relatively stable, with clear skies, mild temperatures and less rainfall, making it ideal for traveling on the breathtaking landscapes of Tibet.

If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us.

Mr. Kalsang Younte from Tibet Horizon, answered on October 30th

Dear Brown, thank you for reaching out with your itinerary planning for Lhasa. With only three days in Lhasa, it will be challenging to visit all the significant monasteries, but it is certainly possible to see the highlights. Here's a suggested plan:

Day 1:Drepung Monastery: Begin your day at Drepung Monastery, once the largest monastery in the world. Its historical significance and serene surroundings make it a must-visit. Sera Monastery: In the afternoon, head to Sera Monastery. Time your visit to witness the famous debating monks in the courtyard, an unforgettable experience.

Shigatse in late December worth visiting?

Hi, we are planning a visit to Lhasa in late December and we are wondering whether going to Shigatse is a good idea in terms of the views, weather and the time it takes from Lhasa since we will only spend 6 days in Lhasa. We are also considering doing few one day trips from Lhasa, any must sees? thanks!

Mr. Passang Norbu from Tibet Horizon, answered on November 6th, 2021

Dear Russia, thank you for considering us for your trip to Lhasa in late December.

Regarding Shigatse, late December can bring cold weather and challenging road conditions due to snow. However, if you are prepared, Shigatse offers scenic winter views. The journey from Lhasa to Shigatse takes about 5-6 hours by road.

For one-day trips from Lhasa, consider these destinations: Namtso Lake: Stunning natural scenery and spiritual significance, about 5 hours from Lhasa. Yamdrok Lake: Turquoise waters and snow-capped mountains, closer and more accessible. Ganden Monastery: Historic monastery with beautiful mountain views, close to Lhasa. Tsedang: Historical sites like Yumbulagang Palace and Samye Monastery, a bit farther but doable in a day.

These spots offer great experiences within a day's journey from Lhasa. If you need more details or assistance, feel free to contact us. We can help tailor your itinerary for a memorable trip.

    The Shigatse-Gyantse portion worth doing?

Hi, can you tell me if the Shigatse-Gyantse portion worth doing? I can't decide between the 4D Lhasa only tour or the 6D Lhasa-Shigatse-Gyantse tour. Is Sh-Gy a rough trip and how is the sanitation situation?

Mr. Tseten Namgyal from Tibet Horizon, answered on March 8th, 2023

Dear Rossi, thank you for your inquiry regarding your travel plans in Tibet.

The Shigatse-Gyantse portion of the tour is indeed worth considering. This route offers some of the most breathtaking scenery and significant cultural sites in Tibet. Gyantse is home to the famous Pelkor Chode Monastery and the unique Gyantse Kumbum, while Shigatse features Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama.

If you prefer a more relaxed pace and want to focus on exploring Lhasa's rich historical and cultural sites, this option of 4 days in Lhasa is suitable. You'll have more time to immerse yourself in the city's highlights without the added travel. For those who want to experience a broader range of Tibetan landscapes and culture, this extended tour of 6-day Lhasa-Shigatse-Gyantse tour is ideal. Despite the longer travel times, the additional destinations offer unique insights and memorable experiences. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. We can help tailor your itinerary to best suit your preferences and ensure a comfortable and enriching journey in Tibet.

Questions on Local Transportation by Foreigners

Hi, there are several questions I am confused about transportation. Would you like provide more information with me. I wonder how extensive is the public transport in Lhasa City? And can foreigners use public transport to get to places in Lhasa City? If yes, Is it still necessary to hire a guide if we were to move around on our own?

Mr. Tenzin Jamphel from Tibet Horizon, answered on November 11st, 2023

Dear Chen, thank you for your inquiry about transportation in Lhasa City. We are pleased to provide you with detailed information.

Lhasa has a well-developed public transportation system that includes buses and taxis. The bus network covers most parts of the city, making it accessible for both locals and tourists. There are also dedicated routes that connect major tourist attractions within the city.

Foreigners can use public transport in Lhasa. Modern buses operate on more than 20 routes around the city. Although bus stops can be a little hard to find initially and information boards may only list major stops, buses run every 20 minutes on each route. The information is not in English, so some prior research with your guide is recommended. However, the buses are cheap, with most routes costing just 1-2 yuan. While you can use public transport to move around Lhasa, it is mandatory for foreigners to have a guide when traveling in Tibet, including Lhasa.

Should you have any more questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Hi, we are planning a trip to Chengdu and were hoping to include Lhasa as part of our trip.We are travelling with some younger children ages 4 and 8.I was wondering whether the altitude will be a problem for the kids. We would envisage spending about three nights after visiting Chengdu.

Mr. Tsering Wangdue from Tibet Horizon, answered on August 23rd, 2022

Dear Mertens, thank you for reaching out us. Traveling to Lhasa, situated at an altitude of about 3,650 meters (12,000 feet), can pose challenges due to the high altitude, especially for young children. Altitude sickness can affect anyone, and young children may have difficulty expressing their discomfort. Watch for symptoms like headaches, nausea, dizziness, and shortness of breath.

To mitigate these risks, ensure your children stay well-hydrated, rest adequately, and avoid strenuous activities upon arrival. Gradually ascending to higher altitudes before reaching Lhasa, if possible, can also help their bodies adjust. We strongly recommend consulting with your pediatrician for personalized advice and preventive measures.

With careful planning and the right precautions, traveling to Lhasa with young children can be safe and enjoyable. If you have further questions or need assistance with your travel arrangements, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are here to help ensure you have a safe and memorable trip.

Some questions on different price between Chinese and foreigner

Hello, I study in Shanghai and I'd like to make a tour in Tibet. I know I need Tibet entry permit. I just wonder, why the trip to Tibet for Chinese is twice cheaper that foreigners. If you could help me and recommend good way how to get there and don't ruin my student budget I would be really appreciate.

Mr. Tseten Namgyal from Tibet Horizon, answered on July 11th, 2023

Dear Costa, thank you for reaching out us. The difference in pricing typically stems from several factors. Firstly, Chinese citizens can travel independently in Tibet, while foreign visitors are required to be accompanied by a private guide and vehicle, which significantly increases the cost. Additionally, the cost of transportation within Tibet, especially for long-distance drives, can be quite expensive due to the rugged terrain and remote locations.

To help you stay within your student budget, we recommend considering alternative transportation options such as taking a train to Lhasa from Shanghai, which is generally more budget-friendly compared to flying. You can also save money by booking your train ticket in advance.

If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to help make your trip to Tibet enjoyable and affordable!

Buy Diamox in Lhasa or bring it with me?

I learned online that Diamox can help alleviate altitude sickness. I would like to know if this medication is available for purchase at pharmacies in Lhasa, or if I should bring it with me?

Mr. Kalsang Rinchen from Tibet Horizon, answered on March 18th, 2023

Dear Garcia, thank you for your inquiry. Diamox is indeed known to help alleviate altitude sickness. However, it's essential to note that Diamox typically needs to be started one to two days before your trip.

While pharmacies in Lhasa may carry Diamox, it's not always readily available, and you may need to consult a doctor at a hospital to obtain it. Therefore, we recommend preparing Diamox before your departure and starting the medication as instructed. It's crucial to be aware that Diamox can have side effects, so it's essential to consult with a doctor before taking it. We advise against purchasing Diamox without proper medical guidance.

Any advice on the trip Lhasa to Kathmandu

Hi there I'm planning a trip arriving Lhasa and finishing in Kathmandu. Any advice on who to fly with for cheapest price? Are there any particular days they fly out?

Mr. Tenzin Sherab from Tibet Horizon, answered on February 15th, 2021

Dear González, thank you for reaching out us. To provide you with the most accurate information, could you please share your estimated travel dates with us? This will help us determine the best options for flights and provide you with more reliable

1.If you have around 8 days, you can drive from Lhasa to the Nepal border via Everest Base Camp (EBC). From there, you can take local jeeps to Kathmandu. Please note that currently, the road near the Nepal border is damaged by landslides, but if your trip is next year, this may not be a problem.

2.If you're short on time, you can fly from Lhasa to Kathmandu. While the direct flight by Air China is a bit expensive and not available daily, China Eastern Air sometimes offers excellent discount tickets. They fly from Lhasa to Kunming and then from Kunming to Kathmandu, sometimes at half the cost of the direct flight. However, the availability and pricing of connecting flights can vary depending on several factors.

Once we have your estimated travel dates, we can provide you with more specific flight options and recommendations. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or need assistance with your travel arrangements.
