  • Mrs. Ruíz from Mexico, asked on January 5th, 2024

Kailash Weather in September, Food, Accomodation and Permit

We are planning Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, and now I am confused about exchange money. Would you like to tell us from where can we get money exchange to Chinese yuann, is it to get exchanged in Nepal? Are Money exchange available in Tibet Gyirong?

Mr. Tashi Wangyal from Tibet Horizon, answered on March 18th, 2024

Dear Ruíz, thank you for reaching out with your query regarding Kailash trekking.

September is generally a favorable time for trekking around Mount Kailash. During this month, you can expect milder temperatures and relatively stable weather conditions, making it suitable for outdoor activities like trekking. However, it's essential to be prepared for sudden changes in weather, as the mountainous terrain can be unpredictable.

In terms of food supply and accommodation in the region, facilities can vary depending on the specific route you choose and the level of comfort you prefer. Along the trekking routes, there are guesthouses, tea houses, and campsites where you can find basic meals and lodging. However, it's advisable to carry some food supplies and camping gear, especially if you plan to trek in remote areas where facilities may be limited.

As for permits for Mount Kailash, it's crucial to obtain them in advance to avoid any potential issues during your trip. The permits required include the Tibet Entry Permit, Alien's Travel Permit, and Kailash Sacred Area Permit. Our tour services include assisting you with the application and acquisition of these permits, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free journey for you.

Getting Permit and Visa with Indian Passport

Myself and my wife would like to visit Mansarovar and Mt Kailash, we have Indian passport. I would like to know the process to get the required permits and Visa. Thanks.

Mr. Karma from Tibet Horizon, answered on December 23th, 2023

Dear Desai, thank you for your inquiry.

As Indian passport holders wishing to visit Mansarovar and Mount Kailash, there are specific permits and visas you'll need to obtain for your journey.

Firstly, you will require a Tibet Entry Permit, which allows you to enter Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR). This permit can be obtained through a registered travel agency like ours. You'll need to provide necessary documents such as a scanned copy of your passport and Chinese visa. Additionally, you'll need an Alien's Travel Permit (ATP) to travel to certain restricted areas within TAR, including Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. This permit is also arranged by your travel agency and typically requires your original passport. Lastly, for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, you'll need the Kailash Sacred Area Permit, which is issued by the Foreign Affairs Office in TAR. Your travel agency will assist you in obtaining this permit.

Our tour services include helping you with the entire process of obtaining these permits and visas, ensuring that your journey is smooth and hassle-free. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact us. We're here to help!
