Exploring Tibet's Splendors: From Lhasa to Sacred Lakes and Mt. Kailash

Exploring Lhasa's famous attractions like Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple was just the beginning of our Tibet trip. After exploring the Lhasa City, more beautiful attractions ahead were waiting for us. The scenery of the two sacred lakes was absolutely breathtaking. As for the 3-day trek around Mt. Kailash, it was challenging but incredibly rewarding, allowing us to soak in the rich religious atmosphere of the area. So many attractions that I can’t tell all of these and their beauty and wonder. I must say that our guide was amazing, sharing insightful stories and historical facts that made each site come alive. Exceptional Care and Comfort on Our Mt. Kailash Trek

During our trek around Mt. Kailash, my friend experienced altitude sickness. Our guide immediately sprang into action, providing oxygen and staying with us to ensure she was okay. This quick and caring response made all the difference and show the guide’s dedication to our well-being. Beyond this, every aspect of the trip was handled with the same level of care. The accommodations were consistently comfortable, even in remote areas. In Lhasa, our hotel perfectly blended modern amenities with traditional Tibetan charm, creating a cozy retreat after our long days of exploration. The meals were a delightful mix of local Tibetan dishes and familiar flavors, catering to all dietary preferences. Tibet Horizon's meticulous planning and genuine care were evident throughout the trip, allowing us to immerse ourselves fully in the experience without any worries. This journey was unforgettable, and we highly recommend Tibet Horizon.

  • Mr. Dorji from Bhutan, asked on March 24th, 2024

    Bhutan to Tibet Transportation

Hi, I am from Bhutan and planning to visit Tibet in July. I have found out that there are no direct flights from Bhutan to Lhasa. What would be the most convenient way to travel to Tibet?

Mr. Lhakpa Tsering from Tibet Horizon, answered on March 24th, 2024

Dear Dorji, thank you for your inquiry about traveling to Tibet from Bhutan.

The best way to reach Lhasa is via Kathmandu, Nepal, because there are no direct flights from Bhutan to Lhasa. You can fly from Paro, Bhutan, to Kathmandu, and then take a direct flight or an overland route from Kathmandu to Lhasa. This route is convenient and allows for a seamless transition.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with arrangements, please feel free to contact us at any time.

  • Mrs. NicoLauo from Greece, asked on February 17th, 2024

Timeframe and Clothing for Kailash Kora

Hello, my family is planning a 10-day itinerary including the Kailash Kora. Is this timeframe sufficient? Also, could you provide some suggestions on the type of clothing recommended for a Mount Kailash tour?

Mr. Kalsang Rinchen from Tibet Horizon, answered on February 17th, 2024

Dear Nicolauo, thank you for reaching out to us, we appreciate your interest in exploring this sacred and breathtaking destination.

Regarding your first question about the time frame, a 10-day itinerary is indeed possible for the Kailash Kora, but it may feel a bit rushed depending on various factors. The Kailash Kora typically takes 3 days to complete on foot, with each day involving several hours of hiking. However, it's important to consider factors such as altitude acclimatization, weather conditions, and personal fitness levels.

As for the second question regarding clothing, it's vital to be well-prepared for the challenging terrain and unpredictable weather conditions around Mount Kailash. Here are some recommendations:
Sunglasses: UV protection is crucial at high altitudes to prevent snow blindness.
Hiking boots: Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support are necessary for the challenging terrain.
Hat and gloves: Protect yourself from the sun during the day and cold temperatures at night.
Layered clothing: Bring lightweight, moisture-wicking base layers, insulating mid-layers, and waterproof outer layers to adjust to changing weather conditions.
Insulated jacket: Temperatures can drop significantly, especially at higher altitudes, so a warm, insulated jacket is essential.
Waterproof and windproof pants and jacket: Be prepared for rain, snow, and strong winds, especially during the trek.
